Why are we doing this?

I want to help fill peoples time and help them meet.

My father died 2 years ago, leaving my mother, who is disabled, alone for the first time in 40+ years. Obviously I do my best and visit everyday, but the day still is long and empty for her. I bought her a computer and set up an internet connection for her. She had never used a keyboard before. Now she surfs the internet for hours each day and has made new friends. This in a small  way helps to fill the long day and has given her a little to occupy her mind.

I would love to be able to help others. The elderly, the widowed, the disabled and the housebound. By providing them with a free system I hope they too will be able to use the internet to find interest and friends

I have shared the idea with friends and neighbours and I have been blown away by the offers of help in making this scheme work. Everybody likes the idea of seeing a smile on someone's face.
